Be yourself

by - April 01, 2017

After much thought and procrastination, I finally decided to wrap my head around and start a blog. Yay here it is my very first blog post!

Over the years I've tried many many different styles.  I used to follow random trends blindly just because. It didn't matter if it looked good on me or not because it was the trend (man those high school days!).

Now that I've learned more about myself, my sense of fashion also began to blossom with it. I've learned what looks good on me and what does not. I no longer wear something because everyone else is wearing it. Here's the most important lesson I've learned -- be yourself.  Fashion is a way to express yourself -- It is your style, so dress yourself as you see fit.  There's a difference between trendy and stylish.  As Gianni Versace says, "Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live."

There are always ways to incorporate trends into your style: ruffles.  I mean, who doesn't like ruffles? They are so cute and make a simple piece look so much more feminine.  In my outfit, I paired my ruffled blouse with simple jeggings.  The minimalism at the bottle makes the ruffles stand out that much more.  A simple pencil skirt or slim dress pants would work just as well and dress it up a bit.

If you are where I am in Vancouver, it is still somewhat chilly out (I'm kinda a tropical animal). I threw on a shoulder-detailed blazer.  It definitely kept me warm during the photo shoot!

Please do let me know what you think! See you next time :)
