The Trending Rompers

by - June 08, 2017

Hola! How's everyone doing in such nice weather in Vancouver lately? I love hanging out with the famfam and enjoy nice walks under the wonderful blazing sun!

Recently there's a controversial photo circulating the internet - Men in Rompers. "RompHim" is a marketing campaign raised by a group of business school friends to launch a line of rompers for men. What do you think About it? We have seen celebrities like Sean Connery and Cam Newton rocking their rompers and looking fabulous. It is pretty fashion-forward and daring for men to dress in rompers as it can look fairly feminine. But hey! Suits weren't really a thing for women in the past. Now it's quite a norm for women to wear and rock them in all different cuts and styles. Who knows? Maybe it will make a hit?

Rompers and I have a love-hate relationship. They are very comfortable and super easy to style, but I have the complaint that is the same with all the women out there: the "I gotta undress the whole thing to go to the bathroom" thing. So I thought if I were to dress in one, it gotta be special and worth all the undressing with my bathroom trips! A romper with a cover-up skirt. The skirt gives it a maxi look with peekaboo shorts underneath. It is elegant with a hint of sexy. Here's what you should think of when styling rompers:

1. Layer it
Blazers, cardigans, etc. Layering is great to hide the broad shoulders and not-so-toned arms. Try layering your romper with a a biker jacket - denim or leather, to get the rock punk look. Too hot? Try a denim vest for an instant update! Throw on a fringed kimono cover-up for a cute feminine vibe.

2. Accessorize it
If you want to keep it simple and casual, a long necklace would do the trick. Try bold statement necklaces and bracelets for a more daring, eye-catching style. Big patterned romper calls for a matching statement and maybe a solid-color purse/clutch to balance out the busy-ness of the outfit.

3. Shape it
Rompers can go from work to play, day to night. Softer flowy fabrics are great for a beach day while structured ones are better for work for a more professional look. Many rompers are not meant to be fitted as they are designed to be loose and comfortable. Adding a cringe at the waist with a belt minimizes the bagginess of the romper to make it dressier and gives you more shape.
