Off-the-shoulders for the wedding season

The wedding season has started! Have you had a chance the celebrate the joy of love yet this year? Summer time is perfect for wedding when the sun beams beautiful warm rays. How are you showing off your sun-kissed skin for special occasions this season?

I'm going to talk about this post one of the hottest look this season - the off-shoulders. You can find it in tops and dresses. The boho vibe and flattering cut makes it very easy to style and understandably popular. With the right design, cut and fabric, off-the-shoulders can make a great appearance at special occasion wear like weddings. I wore an off-shoulder body con dress to my good friend's wedding as you see in the photos! Here's how I think one should choose an off-the-shoulders piece:

1. The Color
Try bright colors for the summer. The pop of color draws attention to your outfit making it fun and cheerful to look at. Tone down by choosing darker colors like navy blue and black for a more elegant look. Opt for softer colors like white and steal the show looking young and fresh. For this post I chose a pale pink dress. It is very feminine and romantic. Perfect for the celebration the love of the newly wedded.

2. The sleeves
Many girls don't like sleeveless tops and dresses because they expose the arms that they want to hide. An off-the-shoulder tops with bell sleeves or bubble sleeves provide extra coverage needed. It makes you look as cool as you feel! Try them with eyelet or embroidery detail for a more feminine touch! For a more mature and elegant look, choose one with a more fitted bodice and sleeves. Off-shoulder with long sleeved dress is a cute option for an nice evening out like a wedding banquet.

3. The neckline
The most basic off-the-shoulder neckline is the elastic hem. It's more suitable for casual occasions. It is too laid back for a full on wedding. Perhaps it is better to be worn to a brunch or lunch reception.

Fitted neckline is made for the garment to lay flat on your chest. The fabric is generally more rigid and dressy. There are many designs with fitted neckline too, such as straight scoop, and sweetheart. This type of neckline is more classy and are better for more formal occasions.

Choose one that compliments your body type. My dress has large riffles across the straight neckline and sleeves. The amount of coverage was perfect for me and very flattering.

4. The fabric
Cotton material calls for casual comfortable all-day wear. A cotton off-shoulder dress would be very suitable both going in to the city or parks. Cinch your waist with a thin belt for a more defined look. Leave it loose for a cute French doll look. Flowy saffron is great for a relaxing brunch date. For special occasions, choose heavier fabric that has more structure. My dress is made of scuba fabric. The thickness holds the shape of the ruffles at the neckline and sleeves. The stretchy fabric also hugs the body nicely showing off some curves. It screams confidence and sexiness.

5. The Accessories
Because the off-shoulder detail is already a statement on its own, I wouldn't go too crazy on the jewelries. A simple necklace with a dainty pendent would do the trick. Did you notice? I chose to use the jewelries I brought with me to my Walt Disney World trip (Here, here and here)! The small gold chain with a little emerald stone compliments my pink dress. It adds glam without taking attention from the dress. For evening wear, just change into a choker with slightly bigger gemstones for more bling!
